About Ian
I trained as a carpenter over 30 years ago, which gives away my age as a mature adult.
In my early years of working as a fresh faced youngster, I worked on commercial building sites in London, enjoying the thriving construction industry of the 80s and 90s. In search of some variety I diversified by concentrating on flooring, working for one of the largest commercial flooring companies at the time.

From the mid 1990s, I took another change of direction by moving away from the building industry and worked for British Airways for next 25 years. That said, I continued to keep my tools and skills sharp by assisting friends and family with all things DIY, so the tools were never hung up. During this time I have completely renovated two of our own homes changing every room and available space.
Probably my greatest personal achievement is that we have more recently built our own home in Henley on Thames. All of these projects have given me the opportunity to expand my skills beyond carpentry to include – decorating, tiling, bathroom, and kitchen re fits, fencing and groundworks to name just a few.

2020 gave me the opportunity to re think what I wanted to do and where I wanted to work, so I chose to come back to what I know best and what I am good at; working with my tools.
I set up Henley Home Improvements Limited in October 2020 and I am now the Company Director, office administrator and more importantly the reliable tradesman doing all of the work in person.
​
Henley on Thames has been home for my wife, daughter and I for the last 14 years and I am now enjoying working locally helping people with their own home improvement projects.
